An exploration of the power of technology to connect us, overcome adversity and broaden what it means to be human is the focus of Empty Set’s next online exhibition, Virtual Expanse.

Peter Hamlin’s digital animations offer portals to technological landscapes where new structures arise and adapt. Celebrating endurance and aspects of transcendence, laser-cut paper configurations and digital processes are set to a soundtrack by enstereo. Each piece serves as a window through which the vast possibilities of an interconnected network are visible. The artist and composer collaborated on this collection of digitally animated paintings and structures from separate locations, while under lockdown during the global pandemic. Their work manifests online as part of a virtual ecosystem.

Each piece serves as a window through which the vast possibilities of an interconnected network are visible. “We have tremendous potential as individuals and collectively as a species to overcome unimaginable challenges,” said Hamlin.
